Rapture is a Finnish dark metal band that was formed in 1997. The songs of the band have an oppressive, almost depressed mood. Comparable bands include earlier Katatonia or Daylight Dies .
history
Rapture was founded in Helsinki in 1997 . After the demo Broken Daydream (1998), the debut album Futile followed in 1999 on Spikefarm Records in Europe and Relapse Records in the United States. In 2002, Songs for the Withering was released , which was produced by Tuomo Valtonen ( Ruoska ). In 2005 the last album to date, Silent Stage, followed . Since then, the band has continued to be active, but without any contractual commitment to a label.
style
Rapture play a mixture of Melodic Death Metal , Doom Metal and Gothic Metal with dark growls , which is often referred to as Dark Metal . The music is compared in reviews to Katatonia and Opeth . The texts deal primarily with the subject of death and suicide , which arose against the backdrop of the Finnish polar night .
