Jarno Salomaa

Jarno Salomaa is a Finnish musician and singer .

Career

Salomaa became known in the late 1990s as the singer and guitarist of the bands Shape of Despair and Rapture and has since been involved in various projects as a musician in singers.

Shape of Despair was founded in 1995 under the name Raven von Salomaa with Tomi Ullgren. In 1998 the project released the first demo Alive in the Mist under the name Raven . In September of the same year the name was changed to Shape of Despair. In 2000 the band signed a contract with the label Spikefarm Records and released the debut Shades of… . The album attracted attention to the project for a wide response from the subsequent Angels of Distress , which was released in 2001 and is one of the most popular funeral doom releases . Meanwhile Salomaa released the debut album Futile with Rapture in 1999 also via Spikfarm Records, which is rated as an outstanding release of Dark Metal between Death Doom and Gothic Metal . In 2013 Salomaa participated in the founding of Daniel Neagoe's band Clouds, known as the Funeral Doom Supergroup , in which Kostas Panagiotou from Pantheist and Olmo Lipani from Yhdarl and SLOW participated. In 2015 he helped found the dark metal band Counting Hours .
