Rashid Ammar ( Arabic رشيد عمار, DMG Rašīd ʿAmmār ; * 1947 or 1948 in Sayada , Monastir Governorate ) is a Tunisian military man. He was Chief of Staff of the Tunisian Army until 2013 .

He was sacked by President Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali for refusing to allow demonstrators to be shot on January 13, 2011 during the 2010/2011 revolution in Tunisia . The next day Ben Ali fled to Saudi Arabia and interim president Mohamed Ghannouchi reinstated Ammar.

On June 25, 2013, Rashid Ammar resigned as chief of staff after criticizing further military operations against Salafist groups.
