The body of Queen Rasoherina was buried in the royal tombs on the Rova of Antananarivo .

Rasoherina (* 1814 - April 1, 1868 ) was ruler of the Kingdom of Madagascar from 1863 to 1868.

Rasoherina, who was actually called Rabodo, took control of Madagascar after the violent death of her husband and cousin Radama II . Actual power was exercised by the Prime Minister Raharo, who had ruled since 1852 . However, this was promoted from office in July 1864 and Rainilaiarivony took his place. The queen had a constitution drawn up that granted foreigners and local Christians more rights. At the same time, the nobles and chiefs were given more say.

A comprehensive friendship, peace and trade treaty was concluded with Great Britain on June 27, 1865. In order not to annoy the French who had secured bases on the coast, the provisions made in the Treaty of Antananarivo were later extended to all foreign states. In the treaty, the queen also committed to the actual abolition of slavery .
