Ratchanok Intanon ( Thai : รัช นก อิน ท นนท์ ; born February 5, 1995 in Yasothon , Thailand ) is a Thai badminton player .
Athletic career
Ratchanok Intanon won the women's singles World Cup in August 2013 at the age of 18 as the youngest player to date. In the final she defeated the Olympic champion Li Xuerui from China with 22:20, 18:21, 21:14. At the age of 14, she won the Thai women's singles championships for the first time in 2009 , with Thailand being a traditional badminton stronghold. At the Southeast Asian Games in 2009 she won the individual silver medal behind her teammate Salakjit Ponsana . She made the Ciputra Hanoi Vietnam International Challenge victorious. At the Yonex Sunrise Malaysia Open Grand Prix Gold 2009 , however, she was eliminated in the round of 16 against Saina Nehwal from India in just three sets.
In competition with her peers, she has already been ahead three times at the Junior World Championships. In 2009, 2010 and 2011 she was the world title holder in women's singles. She won the women's singles competition at the U16 Asian Championships in 2008, and both singles and doubles at Cheers Youth International in 2007.
