description

City Hall is at the junction with High Street ( A697 ) in the center of Greenlaw. It once also housed the local court. Foreign judges and lawyers stayed at the Castle Inn hotel across the street . The building was built between 1829 and 1831 based on a plan by Scottish architect John Cunningham . William Purves-Hume-Campbell, 6th Baronet, paid for the costs . The south-facing front of the classicist building is five axes wide. A portico with two Ionic columns emerges in the center. A striking dome rises above it. A fire-protected room was housed in this, which was used to store important files. The flanking pavilions emerge slightly.
