The town hall Forchheim is a sight in the old town of Forchheim in Upper Franconia , Bavaria .

history

The two-storey main building of the town hall was built in 1402, the municipal building next to it in 1535. The building owes some carved figures and scenes to the master Ruhalm, all of which have little stories and anecdotes as their origin. The little man in the entablature of the municipal building, for example, stretches his exposed rear end towards possible attackers.

Monument protection

The entire complex (main building and municipal building) is designated as a monument .

The description reads:

"Hauptstraße 24. The ensemble of the old town is also a listed building.

Renovation, use

The building has been undergoing a general renovation since spring 2016, in particular there are static defects. The last major construction work took place in the 1980s and 1990s.

The building was used by the city administration as a town hall from 1402 to 2016 , whether this will be retained in the future is still unclear.
