Town hall Klotzsche

The Klotzsche Town Hall is a listed building at Kieler Strasse 52 in the Klotzsche district of Dresden . It originally served as the seat of the Klotzsche city administration and is now used by the Klotzsche district office.

history

The building was built in 1906/07 on Kieler Straße (until 1950 Gartenstraße) as the seat of the municipal administration of the then still independent town. This property was originally intended for a new school building. Construction began on October 22, 1906, and the financing of 60,000 marks came from a loan from the Agricultural Credit Association for the Kingdom of Saxony. The architect of the building was C. Rudolph.

From 1935 until the incorporation of the town in 1950, the Klotzsche city administration had its seat in the town hall. After that, various departments of the city of Dresden were housed here. The Klotzsche district office has been located in the building since 1992 . In addition to Klotzsche, this is also responsible for the neighboring districts of Hellerau , Rähnitz and Wilschdorf .

Construction work

The Theodor Körner Monument

The house, planned in a simple architectural design, has two floors and an extended mansard floor. The only sculptural decoration on the left side of the gable was relief panels with the Saxon state coat of arms and the community seal of Klotzsche. However, these were removed in the 1960s. On the roof there is a small ridge with a clock and a weather vane.

Inside, the town hall received office and administration rooms on the ground floor and on the first floor, as well as a council chamber for the meetings of the municipal council. There were two service apartments on the second floor. After the town charter was granted, the hall was redesigned in 1935 and decorated by the Klotzsch painter Friedrich Alfred Oehme with a painting showing a view of Klotzsche's town. This image was removed after 1950 and reassembled in 2000. Since its renovation in 1998, the council chamber has served as a civic hall for various public events.

There is a memorial stone for Theodor Körner in a small green area in front of the town hall . This was created in 1916 by the sculptor Gröne on behalf of the Royal Saxon Military Association Klotzsche.
