The house with the representative sandstone facade was built from 1895 to 1898 in the neo-renaissance style according to a design by the architect Adolf Hanser as the administration building of the general supply institution . After numerous renovations and extensions, the building became the property of the city of Karlsruhe. During the occupation after the Second World War , the building was confiscated by the French and later by the US occupying forces .
