Space bush

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Raumbusch is an approx. 1.8 km long and 0.3 to 0.8 km wide piece of forest north of Ebersbach . It extends from the Ebersbacher Buschmühl houses to the corridor boundary of Kottmarsdorf and, together with the Klunst, belonged to the former manor corridor . Separated from the Klunst by a hollow, the approx. 390 m high Gutberg rises directly above the residential buildings on Thälmannstrasse.

The border of the space bush is represented by the bleaching water and a right inflow. Its small amount of water is dammed in several ponds, such as the old pond and the new pond. The groundwater of the entire area has served the city of Ebersbach as drinking water since 1912 and is now a drinking water protection area.

In addition to the Lusatian granodiorite, loamy ground moraine and sandy-gravelly meltwater deposits from the Pleistocene have contributed to the geological structure of the area. Thick deciduous trees and rubble hide the former walls of the small quarry on Gutberg almost completely, so that the almost horizontal hornblende basalt columns can hardly be seen. As on the nearby Wacheberg near Oberfriedersdorf and on the Bubenik near Großdehsa , the basaltic magma absorbed numerous, up to 2.5 m thick inclusions from the perforated granodiorite when it breached the earth's surface.

At the various locations, there are predominantly pure spruce stands, similar to the neighboring forests, which are replaced by mixed coniferous forests of spruce, pine and larch. There are only remnants of the original oak and birch forest in the space bush.

etymology

The name of the Raumbusch goes back to a manor estate that was created by buying out two farms in 1563.
