Franz Rautek

Franz Rautek (born April 10, 1902 in St. Pölten ; † November 8, 1989 in Vienna ) was an Austrian Jiu-Jitsu teacher and inventor of the Rautek rescue handle , which is used worldwide to rescue injured people from dangerous situations.

Life

He was a student of Josef Diwischek , a pioneer of Austrian Jiu Jitsu. Rautek founded his first school in Vienna in 1931 , later taught at adult education centers and trained the Viennese police. From 1941 to 1947 he taught Jiu Jitsu at the University of Vienna.

In addition to his most famous invention, the Rautek rescue handle, he also developed devices for medical rehabilitation and rescue, as he was not only involved in Jiu Jitsu but also in the field of "helping and rescuing".
