The Ravensburg in Burgholz, near the Neubrandenburg district of Monckeshof, is a large, three-part, Slavic rampart from the 7th to 9th centuries . It is mistakenly called "Ravensburg". For a long time it was assumed that this complex was the former seat of the builder of Neubrandenburg, whom city historiography traditionally refers to as Herbord von Raven . Therefore the castle was named after this knight. However, some archaeological investigations carried out in the area show that this assumption is incorrect . There are no written records about the complex, but it can be assumed that part of the Wilzen tribe had their main town here, to which 30 documented village locations in the area belonged.

The complex is still very well preserved today and consists of a main castle with a diameter of around 60 meters, as well as two spacious baileys that surround it like an arch. The total area of the Niederungsburg is 280 by 180 meters. It belongs to the Feldberg castles, which were built shortly after the Slavs immigrated to our area. They were generally used to protect the surrounding population in times of need. In more peaceful times, the tribal chief lived here with his craftsmen and guards. In the 9th century, the complex was probably destroyed by fire and not rebuilt. It is noticeable that only a few kilometers northeast near Glienke a smaller Slavic prince's castle, perhaps the successor to the Ravensburg, was built at the end of the 870s. Both plants are located near the Datze River , which at that time was possibly a border river.
