Raya Yarbrough

Raya Yarbrough (* 1979 in Los Angeles ) is an American songwriter, singer, guitarist and pianist. She achieved international fame through the soundtrack to the TV series Battlestar Galactica . She is the daughter of the composer Martin Yarbrough .

biography

Raya Yarbrough studied at the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California . During her studies she won the Quincy Jones Award , an award for outstanding music students, and an Herb Alpert Scholarship.

She worked on the soundtracks for Rest Stop 1 and the episode Of Heartbreaks and Hotels of the TV series 90210 .

Her work on Battlestar Galactica began in the second season episode Pegasus with the song Lords of Kobol . In the third season she sang the song A Distant Sadness in the episode Occupation . In the movie Battlestar Galactica - The Plan , she sang the untitled song in the credits.

Her first solo CD was released on February 26, 2008 under the title Raya Yarbrough .

She is married to the composer Bear McCreary , with whom she worked as a singer on the soundtrack for Battlestar Galactica and numerous other series, such as the series Outlander, where the title music of the opening credits The Skye Boat Song was re-covered and sung by her is accompanied.
