Raymond Chevreuille

Raymond Chevreuille (born November 17, 1901 in Watermaal-Bosvoorde ( Brussels ), † May 9, 1976 in Montignies-le-Tilleul (near Charleroi )) was a Belgian composer of the 20th century.

Life

Raymond Chevreuille began studying harmony with Gabriel Minet and François Rasse at the Brussels Conservatory . As a composer he was self-taught, his first compositions date from 1930. From 1936 he worked as a sound engineer for Belgian radio. In 1950 he received the Prix ​​Italia for D'un diable de briquet after Hans Christian Andersen op. 45 . In 1974 he was accepted into the Académie royale des Sciences, des Lettres et des Beaux-Arts de Belgique .

Chevreuille's work comprises around 100 works, including 8 symphonies, 2 violin concertos, the Atta Troll chamber opera (1952), ballet music, choral works, string quartets and other chamber music.
