Jin Yan ( Chinese  金 焰 ; kor. 김염 ) (actually Jin / Kim Delin ; born April 8, 1910 in Seoul , then Korea , now South Korea ; † December 27, 1983 in Canton , People's Republic of China ) was a Chinese actor. He has the honorary name "Emperor of the screen".

Life

After the annexation of Korea by Japan , his family emigrated to northern China in 1912. They became Chinese citizens. From 1927 Jin worked for the Mingxing film company in Shanghai . The main role of a swordsman in Fengliu jianke (1929) by Sun Yu made him famous. He had a wide range of roles, but he was particularly innovative as a young masculine hero against a social background. In the 1930s, Jin Yan performed several times with actress Ruan Lingyu . He played in numerous films by the director Bu Wancang , such as the great film star who voluntarily goes to war in Sange modeng nü xing (Three Modern Women) (1933). One of his special achievements is the depiction of a sailor in Wu Yonggangs Lang tao sha (1936). This main character in the visually experimental film has killed his wife's lover and has to vegetate on a lonely, uninhabited island with the detective who chased him.

Jin still worked regularly as a film actor until 1940, then again in Ying chun qu from 1947 . His last two roles were in Spring Wind ( Muqin , 1956) and Baofengzhong de xiongying (1957).
