Raymond Taras

Raymond Taras (* 1946 in Montreal , Québec ) is a Canadian political scientist .

Life

Taras studied at the University of Montreal (BA 1967 in Political Science and Government), the University of Sussex (MA 1968 in Comparative Politics ) and the University of Essex (MPhil 1972 in Government). Between 1978 and 1981 he worked on a doctorate as a Canada Council Doctoral Fellow at the University of Warsaw in Political Sociology .

Since 1984 he has been a professor at Tulane University . He was the holder of numerous visiting professorships and lectureships, including a. 2010/11 as Willy Brandt Professor at Malmö University of Applied Sciences , 2013/14 on the Fulbright Distinguished Chair at the University of Warsaw and 2014/15 as Leverhulme Visiting Professor at the University of Sussex.

His main research interests include a. International Politics , Nationalism , Xenophobia and Ethnic Conflicts .
