Raymond Thelen (* 1955 in Düsseldorf ) is a German artist.

biography

After training as a tax specialist (1976–1979) and studying law at the University of Cologne (1980–1985), Raymond Thelen studied with Rolf Sackenheim and Beate Schiff at the Düsseldorf Art Academy (1984–1987). Study visits to southern France, Italy, Greece and Israel followed.

Parallel to his artistic activities, Raymond Thelen worked as a landscape planner (1984–1989) and founded a service company in the field of network technology (1986).

The artist is a member of the gallery plan.d. He lives in Ratingen near Düsseldorf .

Raymond Thelen's artistic focus in the 80s and 90s was on painting and etching . Since 2005 he has increasingly turned to sculptural work.

In terms of content, the artist takes up semantic questions under perceptual psychological premises. Raymond Thelen: "Seeing is knowing and knowing is seeing." He exemplifies the unquestioned use of terms such as ' organic ' and ' inorganic ' in the areas of art production and art criticism .

Metaphysical questions, which center on the relationship between art , spirituality and science , are increasingly finding their way into Thelen's artistic work.
