Razorwyre was a New Zealand metal band from Wellington , founded in 2009 under the name Gaywyre and disbanded in 2014.

history

The band's origins go back to 2008 when guitarists Chris Calavrias and James Murray decided to write music together. After discussing ideas and writing material, they first met drummer Nick Oakes and then bassist Simon Smith, who joined the duo. The line-up was completed by the singer Z Chylde. In early 2009, the band then began playing the first concerts in Wellington under the name Gaywyre. In April 2010 the name was changed to Razorwyre. After the EP Coming Out was released in 2009 , it was re-released in 2011 with a new band name on Infernö Records . In 2012, the debut album Another Dimension followed on this label . For 2013 an appearance on the Keep It True was planned, but the band had to cancel due to an arm injury to Nick Oakes, so they were replaced by Evil Invaders . In 2014 the band broke up.

style

Walter from Metal.de found that Coming Out was a mixture of “traditional heavy metal , almost classic-looking speed metal and a shovel of ancient thrash metal ”. Although the songs are not original, they are catchy, although the vocals are occasionally provided with “somewhat crooked vocal passages”. The music is comparable to that of Iron Angel and occasionally Evil Survives . Michael Kohsiek from Rock Hard assigned Another Dimension to Speed Metal, which, in addition to its high speed , captivates with varied vocals and riffs in the style of old Vicious Rumors , Riot and Hexx . Occasionally you fall into classic Iron Maiden- style heavy metal .
