Re-Animator was a thrash metal band from Hull , England that was formed in 1988 and broke up in 1992.

history

The band was formed in 1988 by singer and guitarist Kevin Ingleson, guitarist Mike "Dis-Able" Abel, bassist John Hanson and drummer Mark Mitchell. In March of the same year, the band recorded the first demo at Animal Tracks Studios in Hull. The session singer was Tony Calvert ( Tortoise Corpse ). The demo gave them increased attention and won a contract with the Under One Flag label (sub-label of Music for Nations ). Ian, the bassist of the thrash metal band Acid Reign , was instrumental in the conclusion of the contract, as it passed the demo on to the label.

In 1989 they released the EP Deny Reality on the label . Tours with bands like Exodus , Acid Reign and Nuclear Assault followed . Manager of the band was initially Martin Hooker , owner of the label. He was succeeded by Paul Loasby (Manager of Nuclear Assault).

In 1990 the band released their first album, Condemned to Eternity . The second album followed with Laughing the following year. Following this, singer / guitarist Kevin Ingleson and guitarist Mike Abel left the band. Lee Robinson became the new vocalist and Adam Clarke and Grahame Dixon became the band's new guitarists. In 1992 she released That Was Then ... This is Now, her third and final album. The band broke up in the same year and the band members devoted themselves to other musical projects.

style

The band's earlier works are described as classic Thrash Metal. The later works, on the other hand, have a more experimental character and are difficult to clearly assign to a genre. Especially the later albums show a stronger influence of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal .
