ReLÜ
ReLÜ , the review journal for literary translation , is an online journal in which translated literature is specifically discussed with regard to its translation . It is usually published twice a year, usually at the end of a university semester.
The magazine was created in 2005 as an initiative of students and teachers of the diploma course in literary translation at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf , in order to create a greater awareness that when translating works one actually means the language of the German translator when one is talking about that of the author speaks. This is an aspect that is otherwise rarely considered in literary criticism .
Works from all languages are discussed, with a focus on English and Romance languages . From issue no. 5 (2007) also examines the scientific side of translation and translated literature in more detail. B. with an essay on Antoine Berman .
In addition, on the basis of criticisms of theoretical works or glosses and interviews, etc. a. with well-known authors and translators such as Jean-Philippe Toussaint or Georges-Arthur Goldschmidt , gave an insight into the variety of translation options.
The magazine was funded by the Institute for International Communication in Düsseldorf and in 2008 by the German Literature Fund Darmstadt . In 2009 a workshop took place at the European Translators' College in Straelen , EÜK, with the literary critic Denis Scheck .
Older articles that are not on the start page can be found via the "search" on the left, in which you enter either the author's name or the translator's name or parts of the title. You can also enter “Issue” and a number between 1 and 15 in this search line in order to arrive at whole issues with several reviews in chronological order.
