The Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Carlos de Valencia ( German Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Carlos Valencia ) is a Spanish art academy based in Valencia .
The origins of the academy go back to the Academia de Bellas Artes de Santa Bárbara in Valencia, which was dissolved in 1759 . The new Real Academia de las Tres Nobles Artes de San Carlos in Valencia was founded on the basis of a decree of King Charles III of February 14, 1768 based on the model of the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid . The "three noble arts" ( "tres nobles artes" ) mentioned in the founding name were painting , sculpture and architecture .
In 1910, in addition to the academic training that had been more practical up to then, essential theoretical and practical artistic knowledge was imparted. A museum for painting and sculpture was also built, which was officially subordinated to the Academy by royal decree of July 24, 1913.
