Rebutia deminuta is a species of plant in the genus Rebutia from the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Rebutia deminuta grows in groups with spherical to briefly cylindrical, dark green bodies sometimes tapering towards the tip. The bodies reach the same height with diameters of up to 6 centimeters and have fiber roots. The 11 to 13  ribs are arranged in a spiral and divided into cusps. The areoles on it are whitish gray. The 10 to 12 (or more), sometimes curved spines can hardly be distinguished into central and radial spines. They are white with a brownish tip or (light) brown and 3 to 6 millimeters (rarely up to 20 millimeters) long.

The deep orange-red flowers are up to 3 centimeters long and reach the same diameter.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Rebutia deminuta is common in the south of Bolivia and in the north of Argentina at altitudes of 2400 to 3900 meters.

The first description as Echinopsis deminuta was published in 1904 by Frédéric Albert Constantin Weber . Nathaniel Lord Britton and Joseph Nelson Rose placed them in the genus Rebutia in 1923 .

There are two subspecies:

  • Rebutia deminuta subsp. deminuta
  • Rebutia deminuta subsp. kupperiana (Boed.) Hjertson

Aylostera deminuta (FACWeber) Backeb is a synonym .

In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered.
