Recep Şentürk

Recep Şentürk (* 1964 in Çankırı ) is a Turkish Islamic clergyman and religious sociologist .

He is professor of sociology at Fatih University in Istanbul , founded in 1996 , where he has been working since 2006. He previously taught at the Art Institute of Pittsburg , the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and the Emory University School of Law .

He received his BA from the Faculty of Theology of Marmara University , the MA from the Philosophical Faculty of Istanbul University and the Ph.D. at Columbia University in New York . He then worked at the "Center for Islamic Studies" at Diyanet . From 2002 to 2003 he conducted research on human rights at Emory University .

In 2008 he was one of the delegation participants of the 2nd seminar of the Catholic-Muslim Forum ( Catholic-Muslim Forum ).

He has published in English, Turkish and Arabic, including numerous magazine articles and a work on the sociology of the hadith tradition from 610 to 1505.
