Rechelle Hawkes

Rechelle Margaret Hawkes AM (born May 20, 1967 in Albany ) was eight years captain of the Australian national hockey team , the Hockeyroos . She won three gold medals at three different Olympic Games , which apart from her only Australian swimmer Dawn Fraser achieved.

Hawkes made her national team debut in 1985. A career milestone was her 250th game for the national team in 1999.

Hawkes participated in the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul , 1992 in Barcelona , 1996 in Atlanta and 2000 in Sydney . In 1988, 1996 and 2000 she won the gold medal with the national hockey team of Australia. In 1992 she only reached fifth place. At the 2000 Olympic Games in her home country, she took the Olympic oath at the opening ceremony .
