List of cultural lighthouses

Museums and institutions of the national cultural heritage in the new federal states included in the blue book of national cultural institutions are referred to as so-called “cultural lighthouses” . In the Blue Book, 23 nationally important cultural sites are classified according to their priority and described in detail.

The selection of cultural sites takes place on the initiative of the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media in coordination with the culture ministers of the new federal states. The federal government is involved in the financing of several institutions.

The 23 “cultural lighthouses” have come together in the Conference of National Cultural Institutions .
