In the Bundeswehr, an accounting officer ( Refü ) is a post within a military unit . The tasks of this post are mostly performed by a non-commissioned officer with portepee (specialist service). Since the tasks are attributable to the area of ​​competence of the defense administration, they are usually carried out outside of missions by civil servants of the middle service or equivalent employees ( administrative clerks , specializing in federal administration).

Area of ​​responsibility

The main task of the accounting officer is the calculation and payment of military wages for conscripts ( conscripts ). Furthermore, he is responsible for the settlement of travel expenses and separation allowance applications for soldiers in his area of ​​responsibility. In principle, everything that has to do with money transactions in a military unit is handled by the accounting officer.

education

A prerequisite for training as an accounting officer is, in addition to middle school leaving certificate , commercial training (e.g. office clerk , bank clerk , etc.) or training as an administrative clerk in the public sector. If appropriate training is lacking, this can be obtained through "civilian vocational training and further training" within the Bundeswehr; this training takes about six months.

The accounting officer reports directly to the unit leader ; technically he reports to the head of the Bundeswehrdienstleistungszentrum (BwDLZ). In addition to his administrative work, he must also perform military tasks (such as guard duty ).

In the Wehrmacht , the accounting officer was an (older) non-commissioned officer who, after 8 to 12 months of training, was primarily employed by the companies to deal with financial and accounting matters . He was subordinate to the respective paymaster .
