Red Snapper is an experimental band from England. It was founded in 1993 by Ali Friend (double bass), Richard Thair (drums) and David Ayers (guitar) in London. In addition to the three founding members, guest musicians are also involved in several of their pieces, for example MC Det and Alison David on the album Making Bones .
The band's musical style is made up of elements of jazz , funk , jungle , trip-hop , hip-hop , but also early psychedelic rock and progressive rock . Red Snapper released three EPs before their debut album Prince Blimey was released on Warp Records in 1996 . In addition, they steered numerous remixes in to pieces by other artists, including a remix of the song Stupid Girl by Garbage . In 2002 the band officially announced their breakup; Ali Friend then played with the band Clayhill , and the other band members turned to other projects. In 2007, Red Snapper got together again.
