Red Spur (Deception Island)

The Red Spur ( English for red spur ) is a mountain ridge made of red lava rock and agglomerate on Deception Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It extends southeast of Crimson Hill on the banks of Pendulum Cove .
The British geologist Donald Durston Hawkes (* 1934) from the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey mapped it in 1961. Polish scientists named it in 1999 after its reddish appearance.
