In a hardware store he is looking for a suitable rope, the best possible one for his suicide.

When Jimmy's father takes his last breath, it suddenly starts to thunder and rain. In his will, however, Jimmy's father demands that he not be buried on a rainy day. However, this makes Jimmy's planned suicide attempt difficult, as he realizes that he is in a time warp, a purgatory, that will not let him go to his death so easily. Days turn into weeks in which he tries to take his own life during a never-ending rain in Ballylough. When he becomes acquainted with the singer Masha, he realizes that she plays a crucial role on his path to salvation.

Reviews

Davide Abbatescianni of the online film magazine Cineuropa writes in his review that in general this black comedy reflects a little the unsettling atmosphere of the Coen brothers' films , and that its uniqueness, the brilliant writing, and possibly also of Philip Doherty's previous theater work was influenced. Overall, the end result achieved by Doherty is really commendable and will hopefully pave the way for his future film projects.
