The Redpath Peaks are a group of low, snow-capped mountain peaks in the Ellsworth Mountains of West Antarctica Ellsworthland . They tower 5 km southeast of Mount Shattuck and the Independence Hills on the southern foothills of the Heritage Range . They also form the southern part of the western wall of the Horseshoe Valley .
The American Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1966 after Bruce B. Redpath, a geophysicist with the United States Antarctic Research Program , who was involved in the first traverse from the geographic South Pole through the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land from 1964 to 1965 . , which are a few kilometers southeast of the Independence Hills in West Antarctica . The Redpath Peaks are part of the southernmost extension of the Heritage Range mountain region of the Ellsworth Mountains . They are also the southernmost part of the west face of the Horseshoe Valley .
