Redrum is an American thrash metal band that was formed in 1985 in Sacramento , California . The band has performed with other bands such as Exodus , Blind Illusion and Forbidden .

history

The band was founded in early 1985 by guitarist Vonni Groccia with drummer Tony Swartz, bassist Larry Craig and guitarist Don Adams under the name Legion . Groccia had contact with a cover band called Hostage , through which he met the singer Carlos Yniguez. Craig and Swartz left the band shortly afterwards and were replaced by drummer Michael Parisi and bassist Michael Caboy.

After that, the band changed their name to PMS, which stood for things like Punk Metal Syndicate , Poser Metal Sucks and Post Menudo Syndrome . Then the name was changed to Redrum . In June 1985 the band was invited as the opening group for a concert by the band Exodus in Sacramento. The concert was recorded and distributed as a demo . Shortly afterwards, the band recorded another demo in drummer Michael Parisi's garage. After a few local appearances and concerts in the San Francisco Bay Area , the band played at the Eastern Front Festival at Ruthie's Inn Club in Berkeley , California.

Vonni Groccia left the band briefly in 1986 to devote himself to his punk project The Anal Babies . However, since the project failed, he soon returned to the band. In June 1987 the band went into the studio to record the demo Power Corrupts . As a result, the band gained more attention and they supported various artists such as King Diamond , Trouble , Possessed and Lääz Rockit at their concerts. Through the demo, the band also reached the attention of Metal Blade Records , whereby the song Random Violence was re-recorded and appeared on the compilation Metal Massacre IX . Since the result did not satisfy the band, no further records were released by Metal Blade.

In 1988 the band went back to the studio to record the demo Disarm and Survive . The band then reached a contract with Alchemy Records . A short time later the label was bought by Sub-Core / EverRat Records and a new contract was negotiated. In February 1989 the band went into the studio to record their first album. However, the band could not pay for the recordings, so the studio kept the recordings for the time being. The band split from their label. In mid-1989 the band broke up. After the band had included the recordings from the studio, drummer Michael Parisi decided alone to release the album Power Corrupts that same year.

In 1991 the band found again together with guitarist Vonni Groccia, singer Carlos Yniguez and drummer Michael Parisi, as well as guitarist Don Adams and bassist Michael Caboy. The band again played some local gigs in 1992 in Los Angeles . She wrote new material to be featured on the second album called Second Coming . However, it could never be realized, as the band separated again towards the end of 1992 due to internal tensions. The members played as session members in other bands over the next few years. In 2005 the band found again together with guitarist Vonni Groccia, drummer Michael Parisi, bassist Michael Caboy and singer Carlos Yniguez. However, this was soon replaced by singer Debbie Gunn. Before this officially happened, however, the occupation disintegrated again. Groccia put together a new line-up which, apart from him and singer Yniguez, no longer contained any known members.

Power Corrupts was re-released through Evil Legend Records in 2007 .

style

The band's music is described as typical Thrash Metal.
