The Elbeplan-Planungs- und Planierungsgesellschaft mbH (short form: Reederei Elbeplan ) is a shipping company based in Wangerland , Hooksiel district .
history
After the end of the Second World War, the founder, Fokko Bekker, was appointed by the British occupying forces as the commander of the war fish cutter KFK 256 of the German mine clearance service. When he was released at the end of 1947, he was allowed to take the ship home with him for a new start and named it Wilma . Fokko Bekker founded today's shipping company under his name in 1948 and worked in the fishing industry with Wilma until 1952 .
In 1952, the Fokko Bekkers Reederei expanded and bought six tugs for supplying construction sites by ship and silt clearing work in the area of the Jade Bay , the Weser and the Elbe . He also worked off the coasts of Africa and South America in the 1960s .
Another lucrative area in the post-war period was ammunition fishing with magnets . During a mission, the Wilma sank on August 8, 1966 when a hand grenade detonated . All crew members were able to save themselves, but the cutter was lost.
In 1977 Fokko Bekker handed over his company to his daughter Gerda Huntemann (née Bekker) and her husband Herold Huntemann. In 1983 they expanded the shipping company to include the area of maritime surveying , in 1988 to include the area of burial at sea and since 2003 marriages at sea have also been offered.
After Herold Huntemann's death on February 19, 2003, his son, Captain Dirk Huntemann, took over the management of the shipping company in the third generation.
