History and equipment

There is first documentary evidence of an Ardez church in the High Middle Ages in the 12th century. Today's church goes back to a new building from the years 1576–77 after the Reformation in the village of Ardez. It was renovated in 1948 and restored for the last time in 1979-89.

The church is a nave with two naves , a main aisle and a side aisle to the north. Striking in the nave and defining the space are the powerfully supported galleries adorned with arcades .

The pulpit dates back to 1577. The organ was installed in 1818/19 and restored in 1968.

In 1803 a second bell from the Grassmair foundry in the Ötztal was installed in the bell room. In 1909 two more bells from the Egger foundry in Staad near Rorschach were added.

Predicant strike

At the Graubünden Synod in June 1790, the church decided on the Graubünden preachers' strike .
