Reformed Church Bäretswil
The Reformed Church of Bäretswil is a classicist cross church in the municipality of Bäretswil , Switzerland .
history
A church in Bäretswil has been documented since 1275. 1502–1504 a late Gothic new building was built, which was demolished in 1825 at the instigation of pastor Johann Rudolf Waser and replaced by a new building in the following years.
description
The simple transverse church building was built between 1826 and 1827 according to plans by Gotthard Geissenhof , who was already a plasterer at the Gossau church. The Reformed Church of Uster, completed in 1826, was the inspiration for the design of the church building . The tower with the Käsbissen roof goes back to the Middle Ages .
The stucco marble pulpit in late Empire shapes designed by Geissenhof is a showpiece of the classicist furnishings . The church has had an organ since 1918, the then (pneumatic) instrument as well as the current one (since 1953, mechanical) made by Orgelbau Kuhn .
