Chaindon Reformed Church
The Reformed Church Chaindon is a church building in the town of Reconvilier in the Bernese Jura .
history
The church was built in 1739–1740 instead of a chapel mentioned in 962.
Building description
The tower, which is essentially medieval , has a typical Bernese bell floor with a pointed tower helmet. The interior of the church is designed as a transverse church - a typical Protestant floor plan. The pulpit is from the construction period. It was not until 1849 that a U- gallery was built in, and one year later an organ from Johann Burger was purchased, which is still preserved today. Unusually for a reformed church the rich murals and stained glass windows , which Philippe Robert has created from 1923 to 1926. The murals show the Descent from the Cross and Christ on the way to Emmaus and are stylistically inspired by symbolism .
Surroundings
In the cemetery next to the church there is a soldier memorial for those who died in the First World War .
