Philippe Robert
Jean Philippe Edouard Robert , (born April 30, 1881 in Le Ried-sur-Bienne , † June 22, 1930 in Meienried ) was a Swiss painter .
Philippe Robert was the son of Paul Robert , who - like his grandfather Aurèle Robert , his great uncle Léopold Robert and his brothers Théophile Robert and Paul-André Robert - was also a painter.
In 1905 Robert broke off his theology studies in Geneva , Lausanne and Berlin and decided to devote himself entirely to painting. Between 1905 and 1907 he toured Germany, Holland and France, later - between 1920 and 1924 - he visited England, Greece and Egypt.
In the course of his career, Robert occupied himself with landscape and wall painting. In 1923 he designed the waiting room in Biel station . Robert also painted numerous pictures of Jura and Alpine flowers and autumn leaves.
In the New Museum Biel (until 2011 Museum Neuhaus ) pictures of the 3000 works of the Robert Foundation are on display.
On June 22, 1930, Robert had a fatal accident in the Alte Aare near Meienried .
