The Reformed Church Le Locle ( French Temple Français du Locle ) is a baroque church building in the city of Le Locle , Switzerland .

history

The massive church tower dates from the Middle Ages . The nave was built between 1758 and 1759 according to plans by Henri-Daniel Vaucher and forms one of the largest and most important transverse churches in western Switzerland.

description

Due to the simple facade design with small arched windows and portals as well as the crooked hip roof , which is unusual for church buildings, the building cannot be clearly identified as a church. Only the medieval tower with a pointed spire, which is attached to the narrow side, clearly identifies the building as a place of worship.

The interior forms a transverse sermon hall with a U- gallery , which rests on columns of the Tuscan order . The central double pulpit is visible from all parts of the ship. The wooden ceiling is decorated with a simple four-pass motif formed by strips .
