Church S-chanf

The Reformed Church in S-chanf in the Upper Engadin is an Evangelical - Reformed church under the monument of the canton of Grisons . The building was last restored in 1989.

History and equipment

A church at today's location is first documented in 1450. Even in the pre-Reformation period, a new building in the late Gothic style was built in 1493 , in which the tower that characterizes the village and adjoins the facade in the north was raised. Its pointed helmet dates back to 1890.

The interior of the church is characterized by a slender star vault and a wall tabernacle from 1493 in the choir . The organ , framed in neo-Gothic style , was installed in 1904 by Jakob Metzler (Felsberg).

On the cemetery wall there are numerous epitaphs of important S-chanfer families since the Reformation .

Church organization

S-chanf is in pastoral fellowship with Zuoz . The Evangelical Reformed Regional Church of Graubünden runs S-chanf as its own parish within the Colloquium VII Engiadin'Ota-Bregaglia-Poschiavo-Sursès .
