The Refuge de La Martin is a refuge located in the Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region . The refuge belongs to the administration of the Vanoise National Park .

Approach

The Refuge de La Martin can be reached in several ways:

  • from the hamlet of la Gurraz, part of the municipality of Villaroger : the path begins at the approx. 1600 m high car park du Chantel; this is where the ascent to the Refuge de Turia refuge begins . Allow about 1h45 for the ascent.
  • from Tignes - Les Brévières (at the foot of the 180 m high Barrage du Chevril dam , near the cable car station de la Ding): the ascent, which begins at an altitude of 1550 m, takes about two hours.
  • from Tignes - Les Boisses (above the crest of the dam of the Barrage du Chevril dam): Allow around two hours for the ascent.
  • from Tignes - Le Lac: the climb starts near the Palafour cable car station. Allow about 2h15 for the way.

history

The present hut was built in 1932 by the municipality of Villaroger. The buildings served as a summer pasture for thirty years. Up to 70 cows could be kept in the barn.

After the pasture had not been used for ten years, the Vanoise National Park bought the building in 1972 and converted it into a refuge.

description

The hut is open from mid-June to mid-September and offers 23 beds in a common room. Winter storage is not planned.

Tour possibilities

From the Refuge de La Martin refuge, the summit of the Dôme de la Ding can be climbed. From the summit it is possible to get to the peaks of Mont Pourri and Mont Turia and then descend to the Refuge de Turia hut or to Les Arcs .

A trip to the Glacier de la Savinaz glacier is also an option. The refuge is on the Tour du Mont Pourri circular route.
