The Refuge de Valmasque is a refuge of the Nice-Mercantour section of the Club Alpin Français in France in the commune of Tende in the Alpes-Maritimes department . It is located in the central area of the Mercantour National Park in the Mercantour Mountains . From the refuge you have a view of Lac Vert , which is closed off to the southeast by a dam. Below this is the Mesches hydropower plant operated by Électricité de France (EDF) .
