Regal Entertainment Group is the second largest cinema chain in North America (USA and Canada) after AMC Entertainment . In 2017, the company operated a total of 7,322 screens at 560 locations in 45 states, Washington, DC, American Samoa and the Northern Mariana Islands.

The Knoxville, Tennessee- based group was formed in 2002 when billionaire Philip F. In early December 2017, the British cinema chain Cineworld agreed to take over the three times larger Regal Entertainment for a price of 3.6 billion dollars, creating the world's second largest cinema operator behind AMC Entertainment. In March 2018, the company was taken over by the British cinema chain Cineworld .

The Regal Entertainment Group operates its cinemas under several brands, the largest of which are

  • Regal Cinemas ,
  • Edwards Theaters and
