Regensburg Gate (Abensberg)
The Regensburg Gate in Abensberg , a town in the Lower Bavarian district of Kelheim , was first mentioned in 1399. The eastern city gate at Weinbergerstraße 14a is a protected monument .
history
The Regensburg Gate is the only remaining one of the three city gates of the Abensberg city fortifications . The Abenstor in the south, named after the Abens River , and the Aunkofener Tor in the west were demolished. As with the other city gates, paving duty was levied on the three-story gate tower . Pedestrian passageways were created on both sides of the Regensburg Gate around 1960 and in the 1980s.
