Regina Mühlhäuser

Regina Mühlhäuser (* 1971 ) is a German historian .

Mühlhäuser studied history, modern German literature as well as the language and culture of Korea at the University of Hamburg and Yonsei University , Seoul / South Korea. From 1996 to 2001 she worked as an editorial assistant for the articles on the history of National Socialist persecution in northern Germany at the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial, before becoming a research assistant in the Theory and History of Violence Department at the Hamburg Institute for Social Research (HIS) from 2001 to 2003 .

After holding a scholarship from the Hamburg Foundation for the Promotion of Science and Culture from 2003 to 2007 and during 2005 as a Research Fellow at the German Historical Institute in Washington , she completed her doctorate in 2008 at the University of Cologne with the study Between 'Racial Unity' and Potency Fantasies. The National Socialist way of dealing with rape, prostitution, romantic relationships and children of German men in the occupied territories of the Soviet Union .

The version published in 2010 of this study found a broad and appreciative reception in daily newspapers and scientific reviews.

Regina Mühlhäuser is currently working at the Hamburg Institute for Social Research on the main research areas of sexual violence in war , the history of international criminal law , gender and sexuality under National Socialism , children of war and politics of remembrance in Europe and Asia .

In 2010, Mühlhäuser was awarded the Offermann-Hergarten Prize from the University of Cologne .
