Reginald "Reggie" Fils-Aimé (born March 25, 1961 in New York ) is an American manager and was Chief Operating Officer of Nintendo of America from mid-2006 to early 2019 .

Career

Fils-Aimé studied at Cornell University and has held senior management positions in marketing at large US and international companies in recent years. Among other things, he worked as "United States Marketing Chief" for Guinness , as "Senior Vice President" for the Panda Management Company and as "Senior Director for National Marketing" for Pizza Hut . There he was responsible for the market launch of the products "Bigfoot Pizza" and "The Big New Yorker". Before moving to Nintendo, he worked for the TV broadcaster VH1 as "Senior Vice President of Marketing". Under his aegis, the station recorded an increase in rating of 30 percent because it geared its program more towards the young audience.

Fils-Aimé had been employed by Nintendo since December 2003. He was initially responsible for all of Nintendo's sales and marketing activities in the United States, Canada and Latin America. Since mid-2006 he has been President of the independent subsidiary Nintendo of America. He resigned as President of Nintendo of America on April 15, 2019.

particularities

Fils-Aimé gained greater prominence in the games industry in May 2004 when he said at a Nintendo press conference on the occasion of the Electronic Entertainment Expo : “My name is Reggie. I'm about kicking ass, I'm about taking names, and we're about making games "(loosely translated:" My name is Reggie. I'll show you and we're about to make games "). A few days after the press conference, the IGN group spoke of the “reggielution” because, in the eyes of industry experts, Fils-Aimé had used this sentence to steer the image of Nintendo built up over the past few years in a new direction. A kind of cult around his person developed on the Internet; soon fan-made images, memes, and GIFs were popping up there.

Personal life

Fils-Aime is married to Stacey Sanner, whom he met while working at VH1. He has three children from a previous marriage. He has lived in the eastern part of Seattle since 2006.
