Regiomontano
Regiomontano is a Mexican name for a (male) person from the city of Monterrey , the capital of the state of Nuevo León , which forms the center of one of the most populous metropolitan areas in the country. A female person from Monterrey is called regiomontana , the plural is regiomontanos or, if only women are referred to, regiomontanas . It is not only the people born or living in Monterrey that are referred to as such, but in general everything related to the city.
origin
The name of the city of Monterrey consists of the words monte (dt. Mountain ) and rey (dt. King ), so it is a monte regio (dt. Royal mountain ). A monte regio has the same meaning as a regio monte and therefore people and things from Monterrey are referred to as regiomontanos .
