Bijeljina region

The Bijeljina region is one of seven regions of the Republika Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina . It is located in the northeast of the country on the borders with Croatia and Serbia . The municipality of Bijeljina is located in the border triangle Croatia-Serbia-Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is bounded in the north by the Save and in the east by the Drina. The region is also known as Semberija. The Tavna Monastery, built in the 16th century, is considered the spiritual center of the local Serbian Orthodox Christians. The only town in the region is Bijeljina .

The nominal capital of the area is Bijeljina with about 114,663 inhabitants.
