Regla Radameris Torres Herrera (born February 12, 1975 in Havana ) is a former Cuban national volleyball player .

Regla Torres won gold medals with Cuba three times in a row at the Olympic Games 1992 to 2000, as well as gold twice at the World Championships in 1994 and 1998. She won the Volleyball World Grand Prix in 1993 and 2000, in the intervening years three silver and two bronze medals. At the Pan American Games she won gold in 1991 and 1995, and silver in 1999. In addition, she received individual honors as the best attacker, blocker and most valuable player in several international competitions (MVP - including at the 1994 World Cup). In 1992, at the age of 17, she was the youngest volleyball player to ever win an Olympic gold medal.

Regla Torres was named the best player of the 20th century by the World Volleyball Federation FIVB in 2000 . In 2001 she was inducted into the " Volleyball Hall of Fame ".

Torres is 1.91 m tall and played in the middle block and occasionally diagonally. Their tee height reached 3.30 m.

With the approval of the Cuban sports federation INDER, she was able to play as a professional athlete in Italy from 1997 to 2000 (Modena, Perugia) and again in 2005/2006 (Padua), while Cuban athletes from other disciplines (e.g. baseball and boxing) were categorically prohibited from doing so .

After the 2000 Olympic Games, Torres had knee problems. So she had to pass in many international competitions, but most recently played in the Italian league 2005/06 in Padua, where she ended the season prematurely in January 2006 despite very good statistics.

After completing her active career, she returned to Cuba, where she has since worked as a coach for the provincial selection of the capital and as an assistant coach for the national team. She was also used as a commentator for Cuban radio during games in the volleyball world league .
