The Rehmsee is a lake in the municipality of Brüsewitz in the district of Northwest Mecklenburg northwest of Schwerin .

The lake has a size of about 25 hectares. The north-south extension is 1.4 kilometers, the maximum width 230 meters. The Brüsewitz district of Gottmannsförde is located on the northeast bank. To the north the lake is bounded by a dam on which a district road runs from Gottmannsförde to Brüsewitz. The water is traversed by the Stepenitz, which rises only half a kilometer southeast, from south to north.

The Rehmsee was originally much smaller. Directly to the north, the Stepenitz and the Gadebuscher Bach flowing into it have been dammed in the Faulmühle reservoir since the early 1980s . The aim was to keep water available for irrigation on the surrounding arable land. Backwater caused the water level of the Rehmsee to rise by about one meter and the size of the water surface multiplied.

The previously overgrown, flooded areas and the high proportion of digested sludge in the deposits on the lake bed are characteristic of the water . Due to the shallow water depth, no temperature stratification can develop. The polytrophic state promotes strong algae growth. In the summer of 1993 visibility depths of less than half a meter were measured.
