The Rehrenborn is a spring and a landscape element named after it in the Degersen district in the Wennigsen (Deister) municipality . It is the location of a natural monument , the Rehrenborn oak . The Rehrenborn is two kilometers west of Degersen north of the Deisterbahn S-Bahn line from Hanover to Haste. The name comes from the old German term Born for source and the former owner of the pasture (a farmer named Rehren).

source

On the southern edge of the conservation area Langreder Mark rises in the long occupied as pasture land a source of low bulk. The spring has slightly sulphurous water that flows to the Allerbach , only a few meters away .

Rehrenborn oak

The Rehrenborn oak is a pedunculate oak that is around 250 years old . This was placed under natural monument protection as early as 1937 and is now a natural monument in accordance with Section 28 of the Federal Nature Conservation Act . It is listed as ND H-11 in the list of natural monuments in the Hanover region. The reason given for the protective purpose is: Unique tree with a very spread out, twisted crown at a spring . The area around the oak is cordoned off due to the risk of wind breakage.

terrain

At the end of the 1980s, only the area around the spring was considered to be Rehrenborn

Today the area is used for recreational purposes. A rest area has been set up there since 1979, which the Heimatbund Degersen looks after on a voluntary basis. Until the mid-1980s, the spring basin was set in stone and benches were placed right next to it.

Since the oak was fenced in for security reasons in the 1990s, this area has no longer been accessible. Instead, the resting and barbecue area in front of the oak was used and called Rehrenborn.

After repeated vandalism , the Heimatbund gave up looking after the site. In 2015, the Degersen local council decided to remove the grill to combat vandalism. However, the site should remain usable at least until 2023.
