The Reichrieglerhof (also: Reichsrieglerhof ; Italian Castel Guncina ) was a hotel on Guntschnaberg in the district of Gries-San Quirino in Bolzano . It was inaugurated on December 24th, 1910 as a jewel of the spa at that time in the presence of many aristocrats from Germany, Austria, Russia and Hungary and for many decades was one of the top addresses in Bolzano and its surroundings. The Guntschnapromenade , formerly the Archduke Heinrichs Promenade, ends at the Reichrieglerhof . The mountain station of the Guntschnabahn was also located here . The South Tyrolean People's Party held several annual general meetings here in the 1950s.

The original hotel building was the result of the conversion of a previous medieval wine farm , the Riegler auf Guntschna , which has been attested since the 14th century . This first appeared in 1335 as "Rigel de Canczenaye" , later also as Igerer und Knütl , from 1829 as Reichri (e) gler .

In 1913 the hotel was run by the entrepreneur Elise Überbacher-Minatti.

Before it closed in 1996, the hotel changed hands several times and, accordingly, the management. Balls and gala events in the hotel were popular due to the excellent view of the city. On February 15, 1997, Christian Waldner , member of the South Tyrolean state parliament, was murdered in the hotel . After several sensational trials, Waldner's former friend Peter Paul Rainer was sentenced to a long prison term in the last instance.

The hotel was almost completely demolished in 1998 and later rebuilt as a stately home.
